Google announced a change in the Terms of Use Google . New conditions will enter into force one month, November 11, 2013 According to Google it has the right to display the photos and names of the personal profile of users of social networks in the advertisements, if users in any way demonstrated the relationship with the advertised object.
In other words, if you subscribe to the manufacturer web page, post a comment to any product by clicking on the mark "Like" and voted for the video on YouTube, «app, movie or album in Google Play, then after a while your name , photos, and comments can be displayed in advertising or reviews to the product.
The innovation is called "Open the mark" and the company believes will improve the quality of advertising, since users are more likely to trust the opinions of their friends and acquaintances. In other words, the user feedback is used to make valuable advertising.
Note, the use of personal data in the advertising profile is enabled by default, that is, an explicit user consent is not required. Members may well not be aware of the changed rules (and in fact, many of us have carefully read the "Terms of Use"?).
Another feature of this type of advertising is that the user never sees an advertisement with his participation, and may not be aware of its existence: it is only visible in the pages of friends or contacts.
To prohibit the use of its name in advertising, just go to the page Settings Google+ profile and remove the check mark at the bottom of the page: "Show my name and profile photo in advertising":
When you press "Save", a warning appears:
The idea of using social advertising is not new. In 2011, the social network Facebook has launched "Advertising News", which is a paid advertiser in the post that indicate the names and photos of friends, "nasir" page of the advertiser.
"Advertising News" became the subject of a lawsuit, which is filed in a few Facebook social network users. Users claimed that they have consented to the use of personal data in the ad. To resolve the conflict, Facebook had to pay the plaintiffs $ 20 million.
Was added. Tick "Show my name and profile photo in advertising" can be turned off, "if you reported earlier, you do not want to show up in one of your ads"
Was it in your Google+ profile by default ticked "Show my name and profile photo in advertising?
yes or no?
And Google and Facebook earn on advertising. There is no reason to expect that if this innovation will bring good money to the first, it will not soon borrow the second. They have one vector - to extract more profits from advertising, and all the traditional media, it seems to have been exhausted, so we can expect more pressure on the privacy of users.
