Today we publish a tutorial in which the author describes in detail the process of creating the logo "Olympus" for a security organization. In this paper the author has used the program Adobe Illustrator.
Hello! Now I will tell you how I drew the sketch of a logo for the security organization "Olympus" in Adobe Illustrator. The level of my ownership of this program is far from perfect, so accept that any operation can be done faster and easier.
The final result
Step number 1
In order not to waste a lot of time, moving a point in the chandelier in the studio, we are beginning work on a logo with a very rough drafts and sketches. The most successful version was the hand of lightning.
Step number 2
We have made several versions of the logo, but they seemed expressive enough so it was decided to surround the logo. I draw quite directly, and to represent a hand, had to resort to cunning and to photograph it.
Step number 3
First of all, I am drawn to the basic forms which are subsequently imposed the necessary gradients.Each circled area on the image - this is a separate shape, I did so in order to make it convenient to cut the glare and shadows in the form of fingers and palms.
To begin to find the fundamental tone hands, in order to then add on top of it shadows and highlights. I prefer to work using two-color gradients with the pure colors such as these:

At this point I dorisovat lightning and applied to the forms of the gradient, by happy coincidence, the gradients formed once more or less correctly and I did not have to think out in which direction to guide them.
Step number 5
Now you need to do less contrast gradients, because the shape of hands, we will describe with more layers, gradually applying highlights and shadows.
Step number 6
I decided to start with the most complex and very obvious at first glance, part (between the thumb and index finger), because it was she who caused the most trouble. We had to put back the shadow, so that the shape of the thumb began to read. Peeping at the picture I first drew a shape resembling the shape of the darkest part, and then painted it with a gradient blend mode Multiply.
Step number 7
I note that the length of the gradient in every shape is different and you may have to figure out how best to put the gradient. Or watch a video tutorial, if I ever do ;) So, I was told that the gradient:

Of course, this is not enough. In order to achieve the desired effect, I painted over the two shape. I tried to draw them so that they both looked like folds and lay down on a hand.
Step number 9
Next, I added two shapes, one for the thumb, forefinger on the other, to further darken it. Among other things, I made them overlapping, in order not to draw a shape at once tubercle between the thumb and index finger (in Multiply mode, they stepped up shading of each other).
Step number 10
Here, I think, is to talk about how I achieve that the new shape follows the shape drawn by hand and does not extend beyond the edge, so:
I draw a shape in the hands of such a form that I need:
Two. Connecting point for the desired boundary, the resulting shape, and single out the one border that I need to repeat it.
Three. Click Crtl + C (copy) then Ctrl + F (to insert shapes in exactly the same place where I copied them). Next, open the Window - Pathfinder and shake Crop. (Absolutely no matter what the shape is on top - new shape kropnuty constructed in an area where the shapes intersect).
4. Remove unnecessary shapes, the resulting surgery, then continue to work with color and apply gradients.

To emphasize the shape, I added two more shape.

Then, I'm middle of painting the shadows on the fingers, palms, lightning, and beneath the logo.
Step number 13
To add volume and contrast, I drew some shapes with the illuminated part of the hand and filled them with a gradient from white to transparent blending mode to Overlay.
Note:
color is a key point, which we set the transparency necessary to make white, or any other color will be visible in the middle of the gradient, as shown below:
This, in turn, in the mode of mixing can lead to unpredictable results, be careful.

I thought that that was not enough, and I added a few more on top form with transparent gradients, changing the blend mode to Normal to appear light and glare even further the amount played.
